Classroom Gallery

Our classrooms are designed to evoke the beauty and wonder of nature. Our yurt classroom space provides a cozy, comfortable, and magical retreat while our outdoor classrooms immerse children in the natural environment of Maine. Children always have the option to come indoors for a warm-up or cool-down break. We espouse a model of trauma-informed, nature-based play. Forcing children to go outside without regard for their feelings or extreme weather conditions creates trauma that serves to create a dislike for the outdoors. We strive to make the outdoors fun and inviting and hope to help the children choose our extensive outdoor classroom spaces. This model has served to facilitate a group of children that opts to go outside around 7 hours per day during warm weather and around 4 hours per day during cold weather.
